It’s officially the festive season which means its gifting season for most of us. Whether it be at a family level, in the workplace or even amongst a group of friends, exchanging gifts is a major part of the holidays and we all look forward to it. Secret Santa is one of the more interesting ways to practice giving amongst a group of people.

In most work spaces, secret Santa usually starts by setting an (often low) amount of money for each person to spend on one another. More often than not, you’re buying a gift for someone you don’t particularly know well, and you end up with a novelty gift that’s relatively useless.

At SGB however, our version of secret santa is a little bit different which makes it a whole lot more special.

“My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait for Christmas to do that?” – Bob Hope

What happens is we collect the donations towards the cause and use them to buy a few things for a number of families that wouldn’t have been able to afford them without our help. As an organization, we can trace this back to 2002 and it sure does make Christmas a whole lot more special to these families and us as well.

For us, it feels right to help those in need. It’s truly amazing to know that our small contributions can really make a big difference. This is therefore a tradition that we intend on keeping next year, and every year after that. We also urge whoever sees this to join us on this grounding but rewarding journey of giving back. Merry Christmas ?
